STARS AND STRIPS: THE AMERICAN DREAM

The United State of America celebrated her Independence Day on the July 4th

Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free, and independent states.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, as well as other various public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States.

The Founding Fathers of this great leader of the “free world” risked everything they had to create a new nation, the United States of America. It is important to note that had the American Revolution failed, each of them would have faced execution – and the loss of all their property, which would have condemned their wives and children to a life of poverty. It was a remarkable gamble, because most of the Founding Fathers were already wealthy, successful men. They didn’t rebel against England for personal enrichment; they rebelled because they truly believed that the loss of freedom was worse than death. These individuals were prepared and resolved to accepting the lure to take the requisite risk necessary to buy the freedom and liberty of generations beyond their time it was a posterity with dignity but at a cost they were ready no to ignore.

We gain a picture into the disposition of what their winning mindset was in some of their quotes

“They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.”

-Benjamin Franklin

“I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.”
-Nathan Hale

“There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism.”

-Alexander Hamilton

The freedom we enjoy today be it economic, political, religious, social or cultural is a direct or indirect consequence of the bravery of courageous men and women who were bold enough to take the plunge and dared the risk.
